This Dish is traditionally prepared during the Tamilian harvest festival which is offered to Sun God, Nature and also farm animals. It is a Thanks giving dish to God. We have prepared with Varagu Arisi (Kodo Millet) instead of rice . It is a healthier version of Ven Pongal. This Kodo Millet contains lot of fibre, minerals and vitamins.

Incredients For Varagu Arisi Pongal

Varagu Arisi – 2 cups
Moong dhal – 1 1/2 cups
Milk – 2 cups
Water – 10 Cups
Salt – To Taste 
Ghee – 60 ML
Pepper – 1/2 Tbsp
Cumin – 1/2 Tbsp
Cashew nut – 2 Tbsp
Ginger – 3/4 Tbsp
Curry leaves – 3 Sprigs
