This recipe is Tomato Chutney / Thakali Chutney. It is a very tasty and simple recipe and also called Thakali Thokku. This is eaten with idly, Dosa, rice and chappathi. It takes only half an hour to make. If stored properly, will stay good for longer duration . This can also prepared as a pickle by not using onions in this recipe.

Ingredients for Tomato chutney

Tomatoes – 6 No’s
Onion – 1 no
Garlic – 12 – 15 pods
Tamarind – 1 gooseberry size
Red chillies – 5-6
Mustard – 1 Tsp
Curry leaves – 2 Sprigs
Hing – 1/2 Tsp
Chilli powder – 1 Tbsp
Dry roasted fenugreek powder – 3/4 Tsp
Urad dhal – Tbsp
Jaggery – small size
Gingelly oil – 40 ml
