This video is about village style mashed ridge gourd preparation called Peerkankai Kadaiyal . It is a typical Tamil Nadu style preparation,Kadaiyal means mashing together using a wooden masher ( Mathu) tempered with Vadagam .Vadagam is consist of mixed tempering spices ,pounded together and then sun dried .its generally eaten with hot steam rice .

Ridge gourd – 3 no’s
Gingelly oil – 40 ml
Shallots – 25 no’s
Tomatoes – 2
Green Chillies – 8 no’s
Salt – To Taste
Turmeric powder – 1/4 Tsp
Tamarind – big gooseberry size
Curry leaves – 2 sprigs
Coriander leaves – 2 springs
