This video is about very popular South Indian dish called puli Sadham (Tamarind Rice). It is a traditional Tamil Brahmin’s favourite Recipe. It is also known as puliodharai, puli Sadam, Kovil puli Sadham, puli Soru and puliyogare. It is usually served as a “prashad” in temples.
This is a famous lunch box recipe too – good for travel / picnics as It stays fresh even without refrigeration. A preferred dish to have on the special occasion of Baby shower as it satisfies the taste buds of expecting mothers with its excellent tangy & tongue tickling taste.

Ingredients:
Puliyodharai Powder
Coriander Seeds-11/2 tbsp
Red chilly- 7 to 8 No’s
Pepper corns – 3/4 tbsp
Channa dhal- 11/2 tbsp
Urad dhal-1 tbsp
Fenugreek seed -11/2 Tsp
Sesame seeds -2 tbsp
Curry leaves – 2 sprig

Tamarind- 1 ( sweet lime size)
Gingelly oil- 100 ml
Mustard -3/4 Tsp
Channa dhal- 1/2 tbsp
Urad dhal- 1/4 tbsp
Fenugreek – 1/2 Tsp
Asafoetida- 1/2 tbsp
Peanuts- 3 to 4 tbsp
Curry leaves-2 sprig
Turmeric Powder-1/2
Chilli powder/ 1/4 tbsp
Salt – to taste
Jaggery- 1 Tsp
