This video is about one of the Pearl in the crown dish which is served in the Onam sandhya called Olan|vaikom olan. It’s just like stew, prepared with white and red pumpkin with black eye bean along with coconut milk and green chillies. It has a very suttle taste, also rich in flavour and no spice at all. This is generally finished with coconut with no need of tempering.

White pumpkin – 700 g
Red pumpkin – 200 g
Black eye beans (soaked and cooked – 2 handfuls
Coconut milk (first extract) – 1 cup
Coconut milk (second extract) – 2 1/2 to 3 cups
Green chilies – 5 to 6 no’s
Curry leaves – 2 sprig
Coconut oil – 1 tbsp
