Masala Vada is an all-time favourite evening snack across Tamil Nadu. This vada is made by coarsely grinding soaked chana dal or bengal gram and mixed with fennel seeds, onions and other ingredients like curry leaves and green chillies. These are crispy, very flavorful & addictive in taste. Process for making chana dal vada is very simple and takes very less time except for the time required for soaking the chana dal. It is very delicious with Tea or Coffee in the evening time or during rainy season.

Channa Dal – 1 1/2 Cups
Fennel – 1 Tsp
Finely chopped Ginger – 1 Tsp
Curry leaves – 2 1 spring
Coriander Leaves – 2 springs
Onion -1
Salt – To taste
green chillies – 2 or 3 No’s
Oil – for frying
