This recipe is about Agathi Keerai Poriyal . This greens is called humming bird tree leaves in English. It’s a must try dish on Dwadhasi which is next day after Egadhasi fasting & also prepared on dark moon day fasting which is been regulated by our ancestors, reason being – agathi Keerai has got lots of health benefits. It helps to cure constipation, cool down the body by balancing pitha Doshas ,act as a detoxifier for the body , good for the eye and good for digestion. It can be taken once in a month but not daily.

Ingredients For Agathi Keerai Poriyal

Agathi Keerai – 3 Handful
Moong dhal – 2 Tbsp
Salt – To Taste
Chopped Shallots – 1 Handful
Coconut grated- less than 1/2 no

For Tempering

Oil – 25 ml
Mustard seeds – 1/2 Tsp
Dried red chillies-3-4 No’s
Urad dhal – 3/4 Tsp
Cumin seeds – 1/2 Tsp
