This video is about a very famous chettinadu savoury rice dumpling called kuzhi paniyaram/ Kara paniyaram. This is a very tempting and delicious dish known in the southern Indian sides. This can be served as evening time snacks. Kuzhi paniyaram is made out of rice,coconut fermented batter, tempered and shallow fried. This dish is accompanied with varieties of spicy chutneys including chettiyar chutney or any kind of chill based preparation called thovaial.

Ingredients

Raw rice – 1 cup
Idly rice – 1/2 cup
Fresh grated coconut – 1/2 cup
Salt – to taste
Sugar – a pinch

Tempering

Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
Urad dhal – 1 1/2 tsp
Onion – 1 no’s
Green chilli – 3 to 4 no’s
Ginger – 1/2 tbsp
Curry leaves – 2 sprig
Coriander leaves – 2 sprig
Hing – 1/4 tsp
Oil – for cooking
